Linda Lockyer is an artist who lives on a farm near the township of Walcha in the New England district of N.S.W. She was born in 1959 in Sydney, Australia where she grew up and completed her schooling at Camden High School. During her school years Linda attended art classes with Pierre Mulot at his Leppington studio, where she studied landscape painting (oils).
Linda completed a diploma in teaching (Primary) at Charles Sturt University, Bathurst, where she majored in creative arts, and completed units in Visual Arts, Principles of Design and Printmaking. Since her marriage in 1987, Linda and her husband Peter have raised four children, Suzanne (29), Catherine (28), Alison (26) and Michael (24). Much of the last two decades has been dedicated to her family, working as a part time and casual primary/infants teacher, farm life and also her passion for art and music (song writing).
Linda has attended art classes at NERAM in Armidale under the tuition of Ross Laurie during 2012 to 2014 and has begun classes at Tamworth Regional Gallery with Michelle Hungerford and Gaby Collins since then. Her paintings are colourful, textured and reflect her love of the Australian lifestyle and landscape, particularly the gorge country near Walcha and also the beautiful coastal township of Bonny Hills which is like a second home to her family.
In November 2012, Linda won the “Emerging Artist Award” at the Nundle C.W.A Art Exhibition. Her first exhibition was held in Sydney at Shepherd St Gallery, Chippendale in November/ December 2012.The exhibition was a great success and was followed by her second at Long Point Vineyard Gallery, Lake Cathie in January 2013. Since then, Linda has had five exhibitions at Armidale Art Gallery, another at Shepherd St Gallery in a group exhibition and has exhibited paintings in four exhibitions at The Glasshouse Regional Gallery at Port Macquarie and one at a group exhibition at New England Regional Art Museum. She has also had solo exhibitions at Ray Walsh House ( Tamworth Regional Gallery ) and recently (2017) at Gunnedah Bicentennial Creative Arts Gallery in Gunnedah, NSW.
